The ECU Vario Exercise Clinic in partnership with Southern Plus Health and Wellness Centre East Fremantle delivers best practice health and wellness programs and consulting and assessment services to those aged 55 and over.
Specialist consultations are available and offered on an individual service basis or as part of a tailored program.

Group Fitness Classes
AquaFit is a fun, low impact class designed for seniors. With easy to follow moves using equipment to improve cardiovascular, range of movement and coordination, it is suitable for all levels. This class will leave you feeling empowered and feeling alive.
Aquabalance is a unique water therapy experience that adapts principles from Pilates, Qi Gong, Dance, Yoga and Somatic based concepts. It helps to release stress and muscular tension using the healing properties of the water environment. Practice restorative breathing techniques with prescriptive movements and exercises that simultaneously re-balance your central nervous system. This class is a safe entry point for exercise post-operative or for musculoskeletal injuries that require progressive rehabilitation.
This class focuses on all elements of fitness: Cardiovascular, muscle conditioning, flexibility and balance. The exercises are designed to develop your muscles to make it easier and safer to perform everyday activities. Using a range of equipment, it combines standing and seated exercise that are low impact and at an easy to follow pace. It is suitable for those who are starting out and wanting to enjoy a simple and fun class with friends.
Joint Movement Program (Arthritis WA)
The Joint Movement® is a group-based exercise program designed for people with arthritis and other chronic musculoskeletal conditions who are aged 65 years and over. The 12-week program is available as either a land-based or warm water program and is suitable for people of all levels of fitness, including beginners. The program includes one pre-exercise assessment, 10 weeks of classes (1 class per week), and one post-exercise assessment. All participants will receive a report of their progress.
Tai Chi for Arthritis
In 1997, Dr Paul Lam’s team of Tai Chi and medical experts designed the program Tai Chi for Arthritis especially for people with arthritis. This program is based on Sun style Tai Chi for its unique Qigong component which has a powerful healing ability. It contains all the essential principles of Tai Chi and the movements are safe. It is short and easy-to-learn. Tai Chi for Arthritis helps arthritis by improving muscular strength, flexibility and fitness.

Strength For Life
Strength For Life (Previously known as Living Longer Living Stronger). It is a low cost, evidence based progressive strength training and exercise program designed specifically for the over 50’s to stay strong, active and fit. The exercise programs are individually tailored for each participant and it helps to improve balance, cardiovascular fitness, muscle strength and overall general wellbeing.
This is a group based class dedicated for people with complex health conditions and care needs which require a targeted program with a higher degree of support and supervision. This class will help to increase your confidence as well as maintain your independence for your daily activities.
