Exercise Physiology

Southern Plus East Fremantle Health & Wellness Centre in partnership with ECU Vario Exercise Clinic offers exercise physiology services for seniors to treat various health conditions and enhance their overall health.

What is exercise physiology?

Exercise physiology is a medical science that uses exercise as medicine and treatment for several chronic health conditions. Having someone who fully understands your body, the medicine you’re taking and integrating your care and exercise regime with your other health professionals is extremely valuable.

Benefits of exercise for your health

Evidence-based research has proven the prescription of exercise as medicine in the treatment of a broad range of chronic diseases and medical conditions including, psychiatric diseases such as depression, anxiety and stress; neurological diseases such as dementia, Parkinson’s disease and multiple sclerosis; and cardiovascular disease and rehabilitation.

Exercise has also been prescribed for metabolic diseases like type 2 diabetes, type 1 diabetes and obesity. The benefits of exercise are also proven to positively impact cardiovascular diseases such as hypertension and coronary heart disease, and musculoskeletal disorders such as osteoarthritis, osteoporosis, back pain, rheumatoid arthritis and cancer.
