Ivy’s 100th Birthday at Margaret Hubery House
We would like to wish a very special Happy Birthday to one of our residents at our Margaret Hubery House. Ivy Fielder celebrated her 100th birthday last month on the 28th of August. Ivy’s daughter, Rosemary Fielder, has kindly contributed to some beautiful stories about her past that we would love to share.
“Ivy’s favourite colour has always been pink. Her birthdays (have been told from early childhood), have always been a time of birthday cards, being dressed nice with flowers from the garden, with a birthday cake of cream sponge with jam and cream.”
The eldest of four children, Ivy grew up on a farm near Bakers Hill. She was very hardworking, helping her parents on the farm and being very studious at school. In her free time she loved music and riding her bike with her siblings. At age 19, Ivy met her future husband James and they married in 1939. They settled in Fremantle and shared 53 very happy years together and one much-loved daughter Rosemary. In 2014, Ivy came to live at Margaret Hubery House.
A joyous 100th birthday celebration was recently held for Southern Cross Care’s (SCC) Margaret Hubery House (MHH) resident Ivy Fielder.
Ivy was joined at the celebration by family, friends, MHH residents and staff, Carole Bain (SCC General Manager Service Delivery) and Mary Butterworth (SCC board member). A highlight of the party was the wonderful music and dancing, including some attendees doing the hokey pokey!
Happy birthday Ivy and congratulations on reaching this marvelous milestone!
